an original photo of something beautiful

This is a picture of the side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge taken by myself the other day. Personally, I think this is something beautiful to me as the bridge is a symbol of where i live and my nationality. Also, the picture shown shows the contrast between nature and the built environment, i believe this symbolizes the connection between God's creations and human creation. This is beautiful due to the textures and colours shown as well. The boldness of the green captures my attention where the bridge's size and enormity stands in the background. I can also draw out the beauty of nature and how it is vital that it should be preserved, although 'man made' buildings around the world are destroying natural environments and such. We are seeing a gradual improvement in the way and methods of how architecture can be built around nature and preserve it at the same time. Thus, to me, this is a picture which is beautiful.

a building that inspired me to become an architect

The '101 Tower' located in Taiwan is one of the buildings which have inspired me to study this course. The building is still officially the largest building in the world as the 'Burj Dubai' has not yet been completed. The building was constructed on between 1999-2004. It holds 101 stories and to me is aesthetically remarkable. This building drew my attention as it showed the modern and minimalist styles of structures in this age. I also find fascinating the symbolism and features of the building; for example, how the building has 8 segments to it, the number 8 is a symbol of prosperity and good fortune in the Chinese culture, thus showing the relationship between 'society' and architecture. One also point is the beauty of the building in the night scene and especially during New Years celebrations, this also inspired me due to the visual appeal. Something interesting is the design of the building to withstand through earthquakes, this shows me the significance in design due to its structure. Thus, this building was part of my inspiration to take up architecture.

best piece of creative work in highschool

This is my best piece of work during my studies in high school. What is it? it is my design of a 'proposed' townhouse complex which was used as my Major Design Project for the HSC course 'Design and Technology'. This piece of work is personally my 'best' that i have done, mainly because i have spent approximately a year planning; designing; and constructing on CAD. This is also my best piece of work because of the positive feedback from my teachers and friends which encouraged me to continue my interest in the subject. This work is interesting as it shows the 'contemporary' theme of duplex housing as well as other housing styles. All in all, i was quite pleased with this project i undertook.
